On Saturday April the Hawks in Richards Bay Serious Organized Crime Investigation working with the Zululand District Task Team arrested three suspects aged 35, 44 and 64.

The three were arrested for the robbery of a car that happened in Gluckstadt near the Lenjani bend on March 14, 2026. It is suspected that the car was traveling on the R34 from Lundi to Vryheid when it was attacked by the suspects. They fired several shots at it until it stopped.

Then they took out the guards and took away their service guns. The suspects took the security guards to an open area and used explosives to blow up the car. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money, two guns and one 9mm pistol. A case of armed robbery was reported at the police station in Gluckstadt and members of Klebe attended the scene.

After three weeks, information was obtained on the whereabouts of the suspects and a plan was made to track them. During the operation, three suspects were arrested and two vehicles used in the crime were seized. They are expected to appear at Vryheid Magistrates Court today, 7 April 2026.
