Parliament and the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) have expressed their condolences following the death of Edward Muzikayise Ntshingila, a MK Party Member of Parliament.

Ntshingila has served as an MP for the MK party in the National Assembly since 2024. He was appointed to parliament’s joint standing committee on intelligence in March 2025 and sworn in to serve on this committee in June 2025.

Parliament’s presiding officers, led by Thoko Didiza, speaker of the National Assembly, and Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, chairman of the National Council of Provinces, say they received the news of Ntshingila’s death with “deep shock and sadness”.

According to parliament, during his short tenure in the intelligence committee, Ntshingila carried out his constitutional responsibilities with diligence.

“In the exercise of parliamentary oversight of the country’s intelligence services, Ntshingila understood that true guardianship requires vigilance and self-control,” reads the parliament’s statement.

The parliament says his contributions strengthened South Africa’s democracy and that he will be remembered as a member of parliament who did not seek the limelight, but worked with quiet determination and steadfast action.

The MK party described Ntshingila as a dedicated servant of the party and a “loyal cadre” who served the people of South Africa with distinction, humility and loyalty.

“His passing is a great loss for the party, the parliament, his family and the broader revolutionary movement,” said the party’s statement.

The party expressed its condolences to the Ntshingila family, his friends, comrades and all whose lives were touched by his leadership and service.

According to the MK party, a delegation of the party’s national office bearers, led by Tony Yengeni, second deputy president of the party, would visit the Ntshingila family to convey the party’s condolences.

Parliament also expressed its “deepest and most sincere condolences” to Ntshingila’s family, loved ones, friends and comrades.
