THEY ARE AT RISK of being cut off from their government grant who ignore messages to Sassa for the renewal of their grant.

The organization reminded people who received the message to go to its offices with the necessary information, not to delay because it is considered that the condition of the person receiving the grant has not changed.

Sassa spokesperson, Dr Paseka Letsatsi, said that people who cannot get grants should not panic as they will be delayed in getting their money.

“Those who did not receive their allowances on the specified payment dates, are informed that they will receive their money on August 7, 2026. They are informed that their allowances will be processed,” he said.

He said the old age pension will be paid on Tuesday, August 4, that of those living with disabilities on Wednesday, August 5, and that of child support – which is notoriously expensive – on Thursday, August 6.

“We send text messages to those whose allowances are being reviewed. It is important that the recipient of the allowance informs us if they change their contact number.”

He said they must inform them if they change their place of residence, get married or travel to other countries because this can affect people not receiving allowances.

“Through this, we intend to find out that the allowance is paid properly, and also prevent corruption in the payment of allowances. We protect the public money. Those who are called to the offices due to the review of the allowance, must carry identification, proof of address, proof of income as well as a statement of income and outgoings from the bank.”

Other information required depends on which allowance is being reviewed and calculated; marriage certificate, death certificate, affidavit, child’s birth certificate and certificate stating that the child is studying.

It is said that people can also use the organization’s technology system to avoid traffic in offices and there is free Wi-Fi in Sassa offices.
