The Bulls are on their way to the final of the United Rugby Championship (URC) after beating the Glasgow Warriors 22 – 21 at the iconic Murrayfield.

The Pretorians absorbed the pressure excellently – especially after facing a deficit of 21 – 3 – and the Bulls coaching group indeed has a team at its disposal that is built for knockout rugby.

As Willem Strauss, union president, quite rightly told Maroela Media earlier: If one point is good enough for the Springboks in the World Cup knockout rounds, then one point is also good enough for the Bulls!

Handré Pollard showed that he is also only human and he went awry with a few set-piece attempts, while his yellow card in the first half provided the home team with the necessary forward momentum.

The Glasgow backline is extremely dangerous and Kyle Steyn completed two slick moves while Pollard sat in the cooler waiting.

Add to that a penalty try and Ruan Nortjé’s yellow card, after the Scottish forwards had already rattled and rolled towards the Bulls goal line, and the home team threatened to run away with the game.

21 points conceded and two yellow cards ????

It’s not going to plan for the Vodacom Bulls ❌

But once again, this Bulls group has stars who can stand their ground in knockout rugby and they came up with a remarkable fight back.

Johan Grobbelaar scored the visitors’ first try, while Embrose Papier and Francois Klopper built on his scoring foundation early in the second half.

Yes, Pollard’s radar was a bit off for a while, but the Bulls really wanted to win and good defense together with sheer willpower got the job done.

Admittedly, there were a few unnecessary mistakes, but it is a huge achievement to beat the Warriors in Scotland. Not to mention Murrrayfield.

Such a fight back does not sit in any team’s pants.

Bulls: Tries: Johan Grobbelaar, Embrose Papier and Francois Klopper. Goals: Handré Pollard (2). Penalty: Pollard.

Glasgow Warriors: Tries: Kyle Steyn (2) and a penalty try. Goals: Dan Lancaster (2).

Vodacom Bulls pride on full display ????
