The beauty and power of the MINI Cooper JCW is small

IMOTO: MINI COOPER JCW

THE INCREASE of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) in the market around the world makes cars like the MINI Cooper the first to come to mind.

However, when it is in front of you, love is formed in your eyes.

MINI Cooper is a car with a long and famous history as it has even appeared in movies.

I was driving a MINI Cooper John Cooper Works (JWC). If the name is attached to this type, it means that it is tuned and has more power.

Even if you look at it from the outside, it has red decorations on the bonnet that match nicely with its skull and mirror covers.

At the front it has LED lights which are headlights and headlights.

On the grill is engraved John Cooper Works so you don’t get confused at all.

This red decorative color also appears on the brake callipers that peek out from the 18-inch rims and make it look good.

At the back, it has a large spoiler that highlights its sportiness, LED lights, a diffuser at the bottom and a single grille in the middle.

The outside is beautiful, I was recommended by another sister who said that I drive a “cute” car.

Inside, they made it look good because there are no buttons. Almost everything you do is on the large circular touchscreen infotainment system in the center.

You can set the temperature right there and it’s clear, it shows the direction, it’s outside when you park, you connect the mobile phone with Apple CarPlay, the speed you go, the petrol you have, and so on.

The existing buttons are for increasing the sound, for changing the drive modes or experience as they call it in MINI, for the engine and the gear.

Some of the buttons on the steering wheel are nice and easy to hold. On top of it, there is no instrument cluster, instead there is a heads up display that you can close if you want. It displays important information such as speed. I liked that even if you open the directions on your mobile with Apple CarPlay, it shows you where to turn.

The passenger and driver sit comfortably in heated leather seats.

I did not expect that the driver will vote for you. It has a drink holder, wireless mobile charging, an arm rest and a sunroof.

In the back, however, the seat is small. Behind my seat while driving, no one could get in and sit. Even the small boot shows that it belongs to a person without a family.

In the few days that I have spent with it, I have seen it go well on the road. Even if it crawls on the ground it is not very sensitive to roads unless the road is really bad.

Changing the drive mode to John Cooper Works was where all of its power was released easily.

The power is 170kW and the torque is 380Nm in the 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine. The gearbox is a 7 speed dct.

In this drive mode, the steering and suspension are firm and the road feels its nature. Even if you pedal, the speed increases now, since from 0 to 100 km/h it takes 6.1 seconds and the speed ends at 250 km/h. When I was changing gear I went up to second and I heard the sound of the front tire trying to stick and it stuck to the tarmac. Even in the corners it turned easily at speed.

Even the music playing on the Harman Kardon speakers I almost forgot when I heard its beautiful sound.

However, it ends up inside only because the speakers were added because there is none outside.

The way it used to consume petrol was not surprising because it was drinking 7.6l/100km.

In terms of its power, you can consider it a competitor of the VW Golf 8.5 GTI, although the price puts it at the Golf 1.4.

Price:

MINI Cooper 3-door hatch JCW – R745 574

It comes with a maintenance plan for five years or 100,000km.
