Warring nations, the United States and Iran have agreed to temporarily lay down their weapons. The countries agreed to a two-week ceasefire to continue negotiations to end the war that began last month.

The ceasefire was announced by the President of the United States, Mr. Donald Trump, on Tuesday night.

Trump decided to stop the war because Iran agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran had blocked the Strait of Hormuz, which meant that ships carrying oil from the Middle East could not pass. Trump has threatened that he will destroy the base and base in Iran, if it continues to block the Strait of Hormuz.

He had given Iran a deadline of Tuesday to open the ships. Trump said that he was urged by the leaders of Pakistan not to destroy Iran’s electrical infrastructure.

“I have set up an army that is ready to leave if Iran does not agree to open the Strait of Hormuz.”

Trump said that Iran has given him ten points that he wants to agree on before he agrees to end the war.

“I have looked at these points, we will discuss them.”

Both countries described the ceasefire as a victory. The ceasefire caused the price of oil to drop yesterday. Oil prices rose sharply after the war broke out last month.

The rise in oil prices has led to an increase in petrol prices in many countries. Here in South Africa, petrol increased by R3.06 and diesel increased by R7. The local rand also opened the markets doing well yesterday compared to the US dollar.
