STILL they cannot believe what happened in Nsimbini, Mayville, on Sunday after 13 people were shot while watching football at a local bar.
It is a country found out that this incident happened after three men entered the place looking for mobile phones and money.
The source said that if you don’t take out your cell phone, they don’t ask anything, but you were hit by a bullet.
It turns out that the club was full of men watching the Caf Champions League final between Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and AS Far of Morocco.
It is said that they were just telling you that if you are exploiting them, why don’t you take your mobile phone with you.
“Even if you take out a cell phone that doesn’t satisfy them, they would shoot you and say you are playing with them,” said the source.
The person who was present when this incident happened said that it left them very shaken because it came down from above. He stated that 13 people were shot and 5 died.
“We will still say that these people are dead because many of us are hospitalized. This is bad, we don’t know what kind of cruelty these people are doing,” he said.
Among the dead are Mr. Scelo Cele, Lindokuhle Malinga, Thulani whose surname has not been found. Mr Sisekelo Duba is said to be in a very serious condition in the hospital.
His mother Mrs Siseko said she was very saddened by the shooting of her son who did nothing.
He said he heard that three men came in looking for mobile phones and money and when they didn’t find that, they just opened fire on them, unfortunately his son was also shot badly.
“The sad thing is that his condition is so serious that I don’t know what to say. My boy was shot very badly,” he said, sounding sad.
He said the doctors told him that he was badly shot in the kidneys and chest.
“The sad thing is that it doesn’t move, it’s just silent. This is sad,” he explained.
He said it would only be magic from God if he ended up throwing it at his son. He stressed that he will not give up hope because what is impossible for people with God is possible.
All of them are said to have been shot several times in the body.
Mr Thando Ngcobo who is a member of the CPF in this area said that this matter was very surprising. He said they are frustrated because of the crime rate which he said seems to be very high.
He stated that they were very shocked by the way these people were shot. He said it was obvious that the perpetrators were not players and were really cruel people.
“We don’t know anything as painful as this. It is clear that we are not safe at all as we are sitting in this place,” he said.
He said that in just one month, 21 people have been shot dead in this area. This alone, he said, is a clear sign that there is trouble in this area.
He said that they had thought that they would report the situation to the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, and said that maybe someone could help them.
“He is the only one who is our hope if things go wrong like this,” he said.
He said that they have not done anything to fight crime but it is just the same, there is no difference but rather it is worse than before.
Relatives of those who were shot did not want to comment on this matter, some of their calls were not picked up.
The councilor of wrad 29, Mr. Bhekisisa Mngadi, said that this incident left them very shocked. He stated that those who did this are known.
He said they don’t know what to do now with the problem they are living with of criminals.
He revealed that one of them died because the community caught him and beat him. He said they are facing a bad situation. He said the police in this area have failed and are giving up helping the community. “It’s bittersweet, it’s no longer pleasant to live in this place,” said Mngadi.
He said tomorrow they have a big prayer for the problems surrounding the area, especially crime.
