MKP MEMBERS are unhappy and want to suspend the leadership of the party in KwaZulu-Natal and in the regions.
Disgruntled members have given the leader of the party, Jacob Zuma, a deadline of seven days to appoint the provincial and regional leadership.
The decision to suspend the leadership was taken at a meeting of dissatisfied members in Durban, last week.
Dissatisfied members complain about being ignored, saying that positions are given to people who arrived later in MKP.
Mr Bongani Cele, who was in charge of organizing the operation of the MKP in Theku region, said that the members suggested that the leadership of the province should be suspended because they were not happy with other leaders in positions.
“It is not that they are not happy with all the leaders of the province but there are those who are unhappy with them. That is why the unhappy members suggested that Zuma suspend the leadership of the province and the districts until the existing problems are resolved.”
Cele said that the previous meeting was attended by MKP members from 11 districts in KwaZulu-Natal.
Cele said that the current leaders are not responding to the complaints of the members.
He said they have forwarded their complaints to Mr. Bonginkosi Khanyile, who is in charge of programs to encourage people to join MKP.
“He was present at the meeting, then we gave him a letter to forward to the President. We expect a response within seven days.”
Cele said that the MKP will be disrupted in the upcoming local government elections if the problems they are complaining about are not fixed.
The famous Nyanga, Andile “Mzimb’ukhalimali” Dlamini, said that they are tired of being ignored by the people who caught fire when MKP was established.
Dlamini said that the positions are given to people who came later to MKP because it is already fun.
“There are people from the ANC and other organizations who are now holding positions. These people who were given positions came after the election. Why didn’t they join the MKP before the election? The people who were in the front before the election have not been paid attention to. It is those who came later who are now in the front like morning urine.
“I don’t care about positions because I’m busy. What worries us is that the people who were there when MKP was started are left out. Our aim is to build a party. We don’t want to destroy it, that’s why we say it should not be discussed.”
Dlamini said he lost a lot of customers because he came out and said he supported MKP.
“As a traditional healer I shouldn’t have gone public but I did so because I believed that MKP would change people’s lives. My clients who are the ANC, IFP and DA ran away from me.”
Dlamini said he is not alone in this problem. He said another famous healer, Bhongolethu “Khehlelezi” Mzozo, also lost a lot of clients because he came out in support of MKP.
Dlamini said Khehlelezi even closed his restaurant Mzo’s Lifestyle due to loss of customers.
“They just failed to take care of him for the position they can give him.”
Efforts to get a comment from MKP spokesperson, Mr. Nhlamulo Ndhlela, were unsuccessful.
