The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has issued a call to Lexus LX drivers after the discovery of a problem that could cause it to lose power and otherwise be at risk of bursting into flames.

The affected vehicles are LX 500d F Sport and LX 500d Overtrail approximately 110 sold between March 13 last year and January 16 last year.

According to the NCC statement, these cars have a 10 speed automatic transmission that uses linear solenoids to shift. If the solenoid dies, the Transmission Electronic Control Unit and the Engine Control Unit known as the computer box fail to detect the problem and cause the car to lose revs in other gears.

“This can cause damage to the transmission and loss of power at high speeds.”

It is said that if there is damage to the transmission, there is a chance that the fluid will leak and cause the car to crash or catch fire if there is a fire.

Drivers of these vehicles are urged to take their vehicles to Lexus garages for free repairs.
