The Manager of Durban, Mr. Musa Mbhele, has commented for the first time on allegations that there are women who hire them for sex.
Mbhele was speaking at a press conference at Hillcrest. There were also businessmen who accused him of not paying them.
First of all, Mbhele complained about some people who he said have painted him badly by spreading false reports that he is hiring for sex. This is something that he said tarnishes his reputation and hurts his family.
He said he does not feel well as he is a religious man who goes to the service, and asked how those who spread these allegations expect the brothers to view him?
He said that he is thinking of not hiring “good sisters” anymore because they bring him to talk.
He said it is enough to hire good people and it is said that “Mbhele will always work”.
”I don’t know if there are bad people, if there are they will be taken,” he said with a disgusted look on his face.
Continuing, he said that since he was hired by the Council, he has never found himself on the job because he respects his wife.
“Even when I turn around, there are people looking at me and saying that Mbhele is about to enter,” he said.
He went on to answer the different businessmen who were present with him who have been in the news for a long time accusing him of refusing to pay them their money when they have been doing work for this Council.
He first answered a businessman, Mr Siyabonga Xulu from the security company Solbet Protection. The businessman accused Mbhele of ordering and ending up paying him money.
According to him, he was hired by the Council to keep an eye on everything that happens in the council, including preventing the theft of information about the Council that is stored internally.
He says he was also given the task of monitoring the officials of Durban, according to him he was hired by the former manager of Durban, Mr. Phillip Sithole.
However, when he went out with Mbhele, he asked him to continue the work he was doing before.
He says the money ended up being R44 million, but because it has been growing all these years, it ended up reaching R500 million.
Because Mbhele did not want to sign for the payment of this money, Xulu ended up referring his case to the High Court in Pietermaritzburg and it was dismissed there. Even so, he continues to demand money from Mbhele.
On Thursday, Mbhele told Xulu in his eyes to forget, he will not smell that money.
”I want to tell you today, my brother, you will not get that money as long as I am the one here in Durban, forget it,” he explained.
Xulu was fed up with Mbhele’s answer and stopped him as he stood up saying he was going to him and reprimanded him for keeping his lungs down, revealing the facts and tangible evidence.
Mbhele responded with another businessman whose name has not been found who also wants to be paid large sums of money by the Council because he had put up tents at a hostel in Tehuis, Mlaza, and had been helping people during the 2022 floods.
Mbhele said the businessman was supposed to work for six months, but he worked longer than that and demanded payment.
Even when he said he refused and ended up doing that, he said people should know that it is his right to ensure that he is protecting taxpayers’ money.
