It is not yet known whether Anton Bougas’ controversial son, Anthonie Bougas, will attend his father’s funeral.
Anthonie, founder of the controversial Kleuterzone group,’s father died on Wednesday after a long battle with his health.
Anton’s wife, Rensche Bougas, confirmed on Thursday that her husband had died. She previously told Maroela Media that he suffered a setback in his health in Thailand, where the couple allegedly fled.
“I’m not going to talk to anyone now. It’s a bitterly sad and difficult time for us,” Rensche said via WhatsApp, after Maroela Media reached out to her.

The couple were in Thailand from February 2024 until the end of the year after the shocking news of the Kleuterzone group’s financial collapse became known.
Rensche told Maroela Media at the time that she and Anton were shot at and they feared for their lives.
Kleuterzone Operations (Pvt.) Ltd. was finally liquidated in May and in the resulting court documents it came to light that the liquidators are busy with an investigation to try to locate around R400 million worth of assets.

Bougas’ personal bank statements showed he gambled away millions of the group’s money and also allegedly purchased 10 luxury vehicles and paid for luxury holidays. Apparently he also took some of this money and flew to Thailand in February.
Mike Bolhuis, private detective, confirmed on Thursday that Anthonie is still in Thailand. Bolhuis said he was unsure whether Anthonie would attend his father’s funeral. He also expressed his deepest condolences to Rensche and the rest of her family after Anton’s death.
No funeral arrangements have been announced yet.
