Siyabulela Mabele, the right winger of Orbit College, reveals that they have put it on their shoulders as players of this team to rescue them from the pit to avoid what he describes as the misery of returning to the “forest”.
Mabele (22) who hails from Uitval, Mnambithi, is one of the players who participated in Orbit’s promotion to the Betway Premiership by winning the PSL Promotion Play-Offs last season.
But it is still hot in the Orbit, which is currently ranked among the three teams in the Premier League, as it is in 15th place on the log with 18 points in 22 games, slightly more than Magesi who is at the bottom with 14 points.
In the remaining eight matches, it looks like the Rustenburg team is facing an uphill battle, since they will still play against teams including AmaZulu FC, Stellenbosch, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
After the FIFA break, Orbit will return to the field with a home game against Chiefs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Gqeberha, on Monday at 3 pm.
It finds itself playing its home game in Gqeberha only, because its home stadium, Olympia Park, in Rustenburg, where it played most of its games this season, is still being renovated.
“Then we are facing a difficult situation if you consider that in the last five games we have played we have only returned with one point.That puts pressure on us to definitely bring back the points in the next games we are going to play.
“Even though it will not be easy to come back with full points in the others but we will have to come back with a point, which is what will help us to move away from where we are,” said Mabele who has scored one goal and contributed to one in 17 games due to injury.
“The coaches worked a lot to encourage us and give us strategies, but things didn’t happen the way we planned in other games in which we lost.
“So we have put it on our shoulders now as players to fight for the team, the older players we have in the team are the ones who put that spirit of determination to fight for the team until the last game.
“We worked hard last season trying to get the team into the Betway Premiership, so we don’t want to find ourselves in the trouble of going back to the bottom of the bush because we are facing the difficulty of playing in that section of the Motsepe Championship.”
MSwenko Boys, coached by Pogiso Makhoye, are full of experienced players including Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Brian Onyango, Ben Motshwari, and Bradley Ralani, whose experience is being looked at in rescuing the team.
