Romanda Hombir, who was recently crowned Miss World SA 2026, clarified the issue of her nationality after her victory led to a new debate on social media about where she really is from.

The beauty, who was crowned Miss World SA on July 18, revealed that she is “proud to be from this country.

“Actually, I understand why people have these concerns because we want to know that whoever represents our country is a true self-proclaimer.

“And I am proud to be from this country, I was born and raised in South Africa, in Nelspruit (Mpumalanga),” said Hombir in an interview with SABC News.

He went on to say that his mother is a black person, his parents are a mixture of Swati and Zulu and his father is colored.

This lady, a clinical audiologist, said that she understands where the confusion about her nationality comes from.

“I think that’s where the racial mixing comes in, which has caused some confusion because we have German and Angolan ancestry on my father’s side. But my parents were born in this country, so I carry the spirit and heart of our countries.

“People will be able to see that I really care about them on my journey, and they should trust that my love for my country is much greater than this crown,” said Hombir.
