The former mayor of Thekwini, Mrs Zandile Gumede, has left the ANC and joined the MKP.
Mrs Gumede was announced as a new member of MKP at a forum in Durban, yesterday.
He has been the chairman of the ANC in the Thekwini region and has been a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislative Assembly.
Mrs Gumede is very close to the MKP leader, Mr Jacob Zuma.
The Secretary General of MKP, Mr. Sibonelo Nomvalo, revealed that Mrs. Gumede will be the Deputy Producer of MKP in KwaZulu-Natal.
Mrs Gumede has been beset by problems as she is dealing with a fraud case involving a R320 million tender for waste collection in Durban.
Mrs Gumede was announced along with other new MKP members including the former deputy mayor of Mgungundlovu District Municipality, Mrs Fucwana Zungu and the former member of the Legislative Assembly, Mr Mxolisi Phakathi.
