This follows as the excitement in South Africa reaches a boiling point ahead of the historic opening match in which Bafana Bafana face the host country, Mexico.

According to AfriForum, the mere fact that the national team will be competing at this level is already proof of the team’s hard work and perseverance over the past months. The organization sees this as an important moment for the country’s sporting history.

Kallie Kriel, CEO of AfriForum, praised the team’s progress and says that the whole of South Africa has reason to be proud of what has already been achieved even before the first ball has been kicked.

“Bafana Bafana has already achieved an exceptional achievement by qualifying for this year’s Soccer World Cup. It is a proud moment for Bafana Bafana to be able to compete with the leading countries on this platform.”

‘Captain and team have what it takes’

AfriForum also expressed its full confidence in the leadership of the national captain and goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams. The organization is of the opinion that the team’s preparation and talent puts them in a good position to clean up, despite the tough competition that awaits them in the opening game against the host country.

Kriel emphasized that the emotional and moral support of the people at home will play a decisive role in the team’s performance on the field, and that South Africans are ready to cheer them on loudly.

“We are convinced that captain Ronwen Williams and his team have what it takes to do well in this tournament. They can go into the tournament knowing that the supporters at home are firmly behind the team and will encourage them with zeal until the final whistle blows. We look forward to an exciting tournament.”

The match kicks off tonight at 21:00 South African time and will be broadcast live.
