THE CHAIRMAN of the group of Ministers assigned to deal with immigrants in the country, has revealed that they know the ongoing protests against immigrants will continue until the elections in November.

Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi who is the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, said that some people are using the issue of immigration to win votes.

“The current debate about immigrants, we expect it to continue until the local government elections. There are those who are using this issue to gain points in order to get votes in the elections,” he said while speaking at a forum organized by the organization of the former vice president of the country, Mr. Kgalema Motlanthe.

He said there are many politicians who have seen an opportunity to use this issue to get votes.

“They know that there will always be elections in this country, so now they are using this issue to get blood and votes. We are working on the issue of illegal immigrants,” he said.

He said that they are a team of Ministers looking at many things that affect the adjustment of borders by strengthening them so that illegal things do not happen in them. He listed the entry and exit of people without proper documents, the smuggling of stolen cars across the border, the smuggling of counterfeit cigarettes and the export of goods without paying duty.
