DRIVERS of Polo Vivos have been advised by its manufacturers at Volkswagen Group Africa on how to park them so that they don’t roll over following the discovery of a problem with the handbrake.

Polo Vivo is manufactured at the company’s factory in Kariega, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

VW told the National Consumer Commission that it is asking all those who bought Polo Vivos between February 2025 and February this year to take them to garages for inspection and repairs.

The affected vehicles are 25,729.

It has been found that the handbrake may not hold properly and may lead to an accident.

“This can cause an accident, especially if the car is parked on an uphill slope.”

Drivers with automatic transmissions are advised to put it in P when parking or 1 for those with a manual gearbox. They have been urged not to park in the downhill or uphill area until it is inspected.

They have been asked to take the vehicles to VW garages immediately for inspection and repairs which will be done free of charge.

Volkswagen said it would also call owners of affected vehicles.
