The KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested five suspects aged between 20 and 44 years old in Mlazi following the robbery of a jewelery shop in a shopping center in Mhlanga on Sunday, 12 April 2026.

When they were arrested, some of the items suspected to have been stolen during the robbery were found. While the police were preparing the scene of the incident at the shopping mall, they found important information that the suspects in the robbery were looking for someone to buy the stolen goods from Mlaza.

Police from the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit and the Durban District Task Team immediately took action and headed to Mlaza to search for the suspects.

Following the trail with the information received, the police arrested five (5) suspects in the morning of Monday, April 2026. During the operation, jewelry worth three million rand and clothes, bank cards and routers were found.

The arrested suspects were charged with robbery of businesses as well as attempted murder. They will appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.

The investigation is ongoing.
