THE MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, Mr. Ronald Lamola, has ordered the security agencies to strengthen their hand against people from other countries, who are in the country illegally.

Lamola said this when he presented the department’s budget of R7.2 billion yesterday in Parliament in Cape Town, he said that corruption must be eliminated at the borders.

“The police, border agencies in this country as well as those in the Department of Labor, have confirmed that people from other countries are in this country legally. The hand of those who are in this country illegally has not been strengthened,” he said.

Different groups support the strengthening of borders to combat the problem of illegal immigration.

The EFF has accused the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr. Gayton McKenzie, of hating black immigrants in the country as he always tells them to leave.

It said that it commends the action of ambassadors in African countries, who boycotted the event to attend the Afrina Day celebrations, on Tuesday, where McKenzie was speaking.

The IFP said it does not support violence against people who are in the country illegally. It is a story in the campaign to deport people who are in this country illegally. There are widespread marches across the country to fight this problem. This problem caused a meeting with the ministers in charge of security in the country, to discuss it.

Lamola said that the country will invest 5 million US Dollars in the fight against the outbreak of Ebola in African countries. This amount is estimated at R81.5 million in terms of Rand.

“President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that this money will be invested in this war. African countries facing the outbreak of this disease include DRC, Uganda and others,” he said.

Lamola said that trade programs with other African countries are going well as agricultural products have made a profit of 15.1 billion US Dollars.

“In the first quarter of 2026, agricultural products reached 3.7 billion US Dollars. This amount is increasing by 11% year on year.”
