VALUED at just over R215 000 is the prize that will be awarded to fashion designers who are students of the fashion industry who will compete in the fashion competition at the Hollywoodbets Durban July horse race.

This big and respected event across the country, which is coming back for the 130th time this year and will be held at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse, Durban on July 4, its fashion theme is Country Allure, which means that it will be filled with traditions that highlight and highlight the beauty of the country and pride in being a citizen of it.

Among the 10 student fashion designers who will be competing on the day of the event, and identified through the collaboration of Hollywoodbets and Durbaan Fashion Fair – there are Lungelo Cele (Esayini Fashion School) who will be promoted by Sinelizwe Madikizela, Siphelele Ngcobo (Northdale TVET) who will be promoted by Amukela Majola, Thato Selekane (DUT) who will be promoted by Sinenjabulo Magubane, Dalisu Vumase (Goda Incubator). to be promoted by Angelique Mukendi, Kiyaan Pillay (PMB School of Fashion) to be promoted by Tyla Gunther, Dumile Shozi (Goda Incubator) to be promoted by Asande Ntombela, Aphiwe Dlamini (Umgungundlovu TVET) to be promoted by Ayanda Thusi, Mandisa Matsinye (Umgungundlovu TVET) to be promoted by Wendy Dladla, Nomfundo Mdlalose (Umgungundlovu TVET) to be promoted Nompilo Mkhize and Mlungisi Ndlovu (DUT) will be announced by Sinegugu Mabizela.

These 10 fashion designers will be awarded R2 000 each to honor them for reaching this stage, and the educational institution of the winning student will be awarded R30 000 to use in fashion projects.

The third runner-up will be awarded a scholarship of R30 000 to conduct fashion education and R2 000, while the second runner-up will receive a R50 000 scholarship and R3 000, while the winner will receive a R70 000 scholarship, R10 000 and will also be transported free of charge to be part of the SA Fashion Week fashion show in Johannesburg.

One of the participants, Mlungisi Ndlovu, who is doing an Advanced Diploma in Design, said that they are looking forward to competing on this day, and are ready to show their different fashion traditions.

Ndlovu, from Mudeni, Greytown, but now settled in Durban, said this is a good and very important opportunity for them, especially because they are young in this role, which they hope will open up many and great opportunities to help them prosper.
