An all-male Zionist choir called Ukulunga KwaMaKrestu, is coming back to music with its third album titled Embundani, which will be available in various music stores in the middle of the month.
The leader of this choir, which was established in 1999 in KwaMashu, Mr. Mpho Khumalo, says that it has always worried him to see their idea disappear since it started very well years ago, and it has been going downhill because of their good music.
“When we got together with some of our brothers who were left in the group we started with years ago, we remembered the good things we did by entertaining people with music as we used to travel to different places in and around Durban.
“Even though it wasn’t easy because we were few and far between as there are some who have lost their way and some who have died, but we decided to continue where we left off because we believe that our skills are useful to the people,” said Khumalo.
Continuing, he said that it took them about two months to cook the 12 songs that will be on this album which he composed with his 19 colleagues in their choir; then they recorded it at Sakhile Shandu’s Indoni Productions in Randburg, Johannesburg.
“We have composed many songs that highlight the presence, power and wisdom of God in human life, among which I can mention You who travel farit was like His love surrounds me this one also says In the fun,” he said.
He said that the songs were written by him and Phumlani Hlongwa – one of the lead singers – and there are others who sing prominent places including Mr. Excellent Nxumalo, Mr. Nkosinathi Mbatha, Sandile Ngwenya, Khaya Mabuza and Mr. Gody and Gift Shandu.
This new album of this choir, which is also known as The Legends, is the first two that said Lummanele Udumo in 2008 and their self-titled album in 2003 called Ithemba Lami.
