THE number of local musicians who are being withdrawn from events in African countries is increasing due to the protests of people in the country illegally.

This was also confirmed by the Minister of Human Rights and Constitutional Development in the country, Mmamaloko Kubayi. He said there was a female artist who informed him that she was fired from another event in another continent of Africa because of the campaigns that broke out in this country.

However, one of the organizers of these protests, Nkosikhona “Phakelumthakathi” Ndabandaba, wrote on Facebook thatIt can be said that there are musicians who have been wasted in foreign events, who can laugh until they lose their temper because “wait for them to learn how unemployment hurts.”

Among the artists who were removed from the list of those hired for foreign events are Mafikizolo and Musa Keys who were supposed to share the stage at the Buddy Beatz Concert in Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, on Sunday. DJ Cleo said he woke up to messages saying that the two events he was going to perform at, in Zambia and Tanzania, have been cancelled.

He said: “I don’t know if I was removed from the list because of the marches.”

Faith singer, Ntokozo Ngongoma, has been withdrawn from the Clima Africa Awards competition in Nigeria after he supported the protests to deport illegal immigrants.

In the end, the event where Makhadzi was to perform at the Cheso Music Festival in Zimbabwe, on July 31, was canceled after an increase in the number of people who said he was kidnapped. Masked legends Izingane Zoma, Afro pop stars Qwabe Twins and actor Thandeka King were supposed to perform at the Sintu Fest: KaDakamela Awards in Dublin, Ireland, on July 11 but the event was postponed to September due to the pandemic that has engulfed South Africa.

The organizers of the event who are from Zimbabwe said they decided to postpone the event because there are African people injured.

“Out of sympathy and respect for them, we believe that it is important to stop and focus on helping each other. Bringing people together at this time is not good at all,” said the statement of the organizers of the event.

The manager of Zingane Zoma confirmed it toThe Public Despatch that they had started rehearsing for this event but stopped because of its postponement. He pointed out that the cancellation of the event hurt them financially, but he said he would not elaborate too much.

Other artists who were injured due to the cancellation of events where they were to perform are Kwesta, Kabza De Small, Maphorisa, San El Musician and Tyla. However, the artists who have publicly supported the March and March campaign include uTNS, Israel Matseke Zulu, Tumisho Masha, Ayanda Msweli, Mzwakhe Mbuli, Keep Moving Dadewethu, Zakwe, Mzukulu, Pastor Mjosty, Dogg Dbn, Malusi Mbokazi, Betusile Mcinga, Oscar Mbo, Mondli Makhoba and Simphiwe Dana.
