SAKHUZA is investigating the community of Sitetemeni, Mahlabathini, Lundi, following the arrest of a teacher from Maphovela High School, on Wednesday, for raping goats.
According to the source ofOf this country who asked not to be named, the suspect was arrested after the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) raided the local police station with evidence that the suspect had committed a crime.
“It is said that the SPCA came to the police with videos showing the suspect engaging in this practice. They asked him to file a case and that he be arrested,” said the source.
He said it is not clear how the videos were leaked and how they came into the hands of the SPCA as it shows that they were being recorded by the suspect himself.
The source went on to say that what has emerged is that the goats did not attack the suspect’s property as he is a local resident.
He said that the suspect and his actions are still making headlines in the community, since he was a person who seemed to be honest in the community.

“After receiving a message about it while I was in a meeting, I continued to hear people discussing this matter but it was said that no one has complete information. The teacher has been arrested,” said Dlamini.

The governing body of the school as well as the local councillor, when contacted, said they had not heard anything about an issue like this.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said the police at the Mahlabathini station arrested a 43-year-old man for having sex with an animal, animal cruelty and sexual abuse.
“It is reported that the suspect was seen in a video circulating on social media raping goats. He was then searched, until he was found and arrested. It is suspected that the incident took place between April and July this year,” said Netshiunda.
He said the suspect was expected to appear in court yesterday.
In South Africa, having sex with an animal is considered a criminal offense similar to committing sexual offenses against other people. Those convicted face severe penalties, including heavy fines and imprisonment for up to 8 years, depending on the circumstances of the case.
