There will be courts that will only focus on prosecuting people who are in the country illegally in order to speed up their return to their countries.
These courts are established to deal with the problem that is bothering many people in this country who are in this country illegally. This is one of the efforts to deal with the problem of illegal immigrants.
It was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa last night, in his address to the nation, about this problem.
“We are the government and we have taken up the issue of people who are in this country illegally. People must have complaints about people who are in this country illegally. People feel blocked from getting opportunities because of people who are in this country illegally. That is why we are strengthening programs to combat this problem such as establishing courts that will directly deal with this problem,” he said.
He said the people of this country are complaining about crime and other things that people in this country do illegally.
“These complaints of theirs, including the fact that they are already in the position of having spaza shops, is something we cannot avoid. That is why we are strengthening the policies for people entering this country.”
He also announced other plans including strengthening the borders by investing in modern technology at the borders.
“We will move the centers that hold people who will be sent back to their countries closer to the borders. We will start with the center in Tshwane. This is how we strengthen our efforts to end this problem. We also close the borders so that they do not leak by strengthening the hand of those who commit corruption.”
He warned the people of this country that no one has the right to stop someone he meets on the street, and ask him to show that he is in this country legally.
He said this work was for the security agencies only, not for anyone else.
“The security agencies are the only ones who have the right to demand proof from anyone that they are in this country legally. No one else has the right to demand this proof.”
He said they are strengthening their hand against employers who hire and exploit people who are in the country illegally.
“The work of recruiting those who will deal with the issue of visiting employers from the Ministry of Labor, to look at the employed people who are in the country illegally, is going on. A date will also be announced when the Ministry of Home Affairs will set a deadline for the elimination of old identity cards. Those identity cards are easy to make a scam with and that’s why we want to do away with them,” he said.
He said they will not be ashamed or afraid to deal with the problem of people in the country illegally.
“We are strengthening the borders of our country, we will not be ashamed to do this work to protect the people of this country. Let’s not fall into the trap of following untrue things that happen on social media to try to sow hatred against people who are in this country illegally. We have no hatred for people from other countries, which people who are in this country illegally do not want.”
He reminded the people of other countries to respect the laws of the country.
“Everyone must respect the laws of the country. We expect immigrants to respect the laws of this country.”
He said that every year 450,000 people from other countries are stopped trying to enter the country’s borders, which is done by the Border Management Authority.
The leader of the March and March, Mrs Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, said that she had heard the points made by Ramaphosa especially on the issue of crimes committed by immigrants and the issue of spaza shops.
He said that what he intends to do, such as repatriating people who are in the country illegally, will be a difficult task.
“It will be an uphill battle to do some of the things he mentioned in his speech. The campaign to expel illegal immigrants is not governed by politics but by the people of this country who complain about what is happening.”
