Former police officer Sergeant Rosemary Ndlovu and her co-accused, Nomsa Mudau, appeared at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court to hear the court’s verdict on their charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

Inevitably, the court has issued a verdict, both of them were found guilty of the 2018 conspiracy to kill Mudau’s husband. The court heard that Ndlovu contacted criminals to help Mudau kill her husband.

The investigation led by Captain Kheswa Mabunda revealed that Ndlovu told the criminals that Mudau would contact them directly about the murder plot. There were many phone calls and meetings between them and Mudau, Tembisa, Kurhuleni.

In these meetings, Mudau is said to have asked the men to kill her husband, saying that he was torturing her and having an affair. The court also heard that Mudau told the oxen that she would pay for them after she filed a claim for her husband’s death with the insurance company.

After some time, the oxen hit the shack and informed the husband, Justice Mudau, that his wife wanted to kill him. The husband filed a criminal complaint with the South African police. This led to the arrest of both accused.

State prosecutor Advocate Riana Williams stated that the evidence presented by the State’s witnesses was consistent, corroborating and proved beyond doubt that both defendants initiated the process of attempted murder.

Mbuso said that Ndlovu was the one who first made a move by contacting the criminals and arranged for help for his friend, while Mudau joined the criminals and repeatedly asked for her husband to be killed.

The court found that the state had successfully proven another count of conspiracy to commit murder.

The case was adjourned to 15 July 2026 for pre-sentence reports and sentencing.

This sentence comes as Ndlovu is already serving six life sentences following his conviction in November 2021 for murdering five family members. Those murders are done for financial gain through insurance and funeral policy payouts.
