There is an investigation into the murder of the Lesotho people in the Free State

The Free State Police Unit continues to investigate the shooting incident that occurred on Thursday, 14 May 2026, on the R76 between Tweeling and Reitz.

This incident resulted in the death of four people and one was seriously injured.

The deceased were correctly identified by their relatives as Lekiba Likhetho (24), Rebone Moeketsi (26), Pule Latela (32) and Tshepang Cecilia Letsoha (27).

All those who died were from the country of Lesotho. The victim who survived is still being treated in hospital for serious injuries. No one has been arrested yet, the investigation is ongoing.

The South African Police are appealing to any member of the public who witnessed this incident or who may have information that may assist the investigation to contact Captain Sandile Dladla on 073 226 6788 or 082 466 8530.
