A shaman has drowned, who was said to have cleansed people at the Nanda dam, in Sikebheni area, Mzinyathi, on Monday.
According to the source, the deceased, who is a woman, was going to wash with a few other people.
“He drowned before he could bathe. He was the only one who was in the water,” said the source.
He stated that the incident happened while it was still light, but the deceased could not be rescued while they were there.
“We don’t know where they were from, but they are not local,” said the source.
The local councillor, Mr. Falakhe Gcabashe, is contacted byOf this countrysaid that she had just heard about the matter, and said that she did not have full information yet.
“What I have found is that the deceased and those who were traveling with him are not local people. We still do not have information about where and where they were from. That means they would have done what they were going to do and left,” said Gcabashe.
The KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Sergeant Thenjiswa Ngcobo, said the Nanda police opened a post mortem for investigation following the drowning of a person in the Nanda Dam on Monday.
“It is suspected that the woman was bathing people in the dam in Sikebhen when she drowned,” said Sgt Ngcobo.
