The midfielder of Stellenbosch FC, Genino Palace, says that they will do everything in their power to disrupt Mamelodi Sundowns as they will meet at the top of the Betway Premiership.

Stellies will visit the Brazilians at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria, on Wednesday at 7.30 pm.

The Sandawanas are in a fierce battle for the title with Orlando Pirates, and they need full points in this game to return to the top.

Stellies are in ninth place with 31 points from 24 games. If he collects perfect points on the road, he can put himself in the Top 8 at this crucial time of the season.

This team coached by Gavin Hunt beat Sekhukhune United 3-1 in their last league game.

“We were striving to collect 30 points to reduce the chances of being relegated. Now that we have done that, we are looking to join the top eight teams on the log,” said Palace on the Stellies website.

“The result we got against Sekhukhune was important, but the most important thing is that we hold this streak in the last games of the season. We are still focusing on each game, but it is something we are looking for and we will strive to enter the Top 8.”

Sundowns have won 10 games in a row in the Premiership and it is usually difficult to upset them at this stage of the season when they see success closely, but Palace said they also need the points.

“It is important that we continue our streak, not dropping too many points. The game we are focused on is the one we will play against Sundowns. Winning the last game gives us hope going into the next game,” he continued.

“We have to enter the field and do everything we can to come out with the points. We have had good results in the past playing with them, we cannot say that it will not happen again. If we plan the game in the right way, there is no reason why we cannot get something out of it.”

The first match between Stellies and Sundowns in August was won by the Brazilians 1-0 with a goal by Peter Shalulile.
