KwaNdengezi police have arrested three security guards for attempted murder, vandalism and assault following an incident in which a video has gone viral, where it is suspected that an e-hailing driver was hit and the wheel of his car was shot during an altercation with security guards associated with the taxi association in KwaNdengezi on Wednesday morning, 3 June 2026.
The information reveals that the driver of the hailing car was loading passengers on the MR518 road when he was stopped by two security vehicles. The driver was able to drive but was followed and his car was hit by one of the security vehicles and stopped. At that time, one of the guards reportedly shot the wheel of the car, while two other guards beat the driver. The driver was rescued by the local police.
On Thursday morning, the KwaNdengezi police contacted representatives of the taxi association who cooperated with the law enforcement and brought the security guards concerned to the police station. The three security guards, aged 28, 41 and 49 years old, will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today.
