The road was forced to be closed due to the carnage of the accident that happened at the intersection of Watermeyer and Stevenson roads, Klipfontein, Malahleni on Tuesday.
Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries and one person who was riding in the taxi is still trapped.
Emergency services and other traffic authorities are at the scene carrying out rescue operations. The rescue team is working to cut open the vehicle to free the trapped person.
Motorists are advised to avoid Watermeyer Street, Klipfontein and expect significant delays. The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed.
