THEY are mourning the death of a police officer who was allegedly shot dead by the father of a child in Mpumalanga township, Hammarsdale.

According to reports, Constable Mbali Msomi, who is said to have been working at the Mpumalanga police station, was shot by her child’s father, who is also a police officer, after he was mistaken for another woman.

According to the source, the woman who was found by the deceased with the suspect is also a police officer.

It turns out that when the argument started, the suspect ended up shooting the deceased, which happened on the spot.

It is reported that the suspect was also rushed to the hospital as he tried to kill himself

“The deceased and the suspect were working together at the Mpumalanga station, but the suspect was then transferred to the Pinetown station,” said the source.

He went on to say that they died in Mpumalanga as the deceased loved his job with all his heart.

“He was working hard and with dedication. We mourn his brutal murder,” said the source.

He pointed out that even in the community he cared about programs that promote peace, unity and the fight against crime.

He went on to say that there is nothing they remember that painted the picture that there was violence between them as they were silent lovers.

“We are shocked that this has happened,” he said.

The sister of the deceased, whose name has not been released, asked to be contacted today about the matter.

He mentioned that the incident is still fresh and the family is gathering to meet at home.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, told the media that the police opened a case of murder after a constable, who was off duty, was shot by her boyfriend. who is also a police officer died.

“The suspect is a Sergeant in the Crime Intelligence Unit. The incident happened at the suspect’s place in Mpumalanga township on Tuesday,” said Netshiunda.

He revealed that the suspect was rushed to the hospital, under police guard after he shot himself.

He said it is believed that the incident happened after they had an argument.

“Although the cause of the shooting is not yet known, it is suspected that it was related to family violence. The deceased was on leave from work when he died,” said Netshiunda.
