WRITERS, directors, producers and actors in films and television dramas – especially young people in the role of acting have been given another chance to enter the competition to honor them with the Simon Mabhunu Sabela KZN Film and Television Awards.

The return of this awards competition, which is coming back for the 13th time this year – has been announced by the body that organizes it, the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority, where it revealed that this year’s entry opens on June 8, until it closes at the end of July.

This year, the awards ceremony for the winners in different categories will be held at a yet to be announced venue in Durban on October 10.

This competition, which was first held in 2013 with the aim of honoring the late actor Simon Mabhunu Sabela, is aimed at promoting the skills of young actors in the role of acting, as well as those who do important but neglected and unknown roles in acting.

Acting CEO of KZN Tourism and Film Authority, Sibusiso Gumbi, said that opening the entries for this competition is a sign of how committed they are to promoting and developing the role of acting in KZN.

“This competition is one of the most important programs to increase this role and is useful in growing our economy. In addition, it highlights the skills of different artists from our province. And as we continue to promote the beauty of our province, it is important for us to use this program to show the beauty of the beautiful places where different performances are recorded, which will be seen and stand out by those who will be awarded,” said Gumbi.

He appealed to film producers, producers of different games, actors and companies that produce games and films in this province to participate in large numbers once they open the entries so that everything will go smoothly.

Among the actors who have been awarded in this competition in different categories over the years, we can mention Thembinkosi Mthembu, Sdumo Mtshali, Dawn Thandeka King, Kwenzokuhle Ngcobo, Wiseman Mncube, Vuyo Biyela, Baby Cele, Mbuso Khoza, Nompilo Maphumulo, Sibongiseni Shezi, Deli Malinga and Nqobile Magwaza to name just a few.
