A woman from Mthebeni, Ndwedwe, has lost weight, following the disappearance of her son who worked as a security guard at a car company.

According to Mrs Joyce Mhlongo, her son, Mr Nkosinathi Emmanuel Mzobe (36) went missing on December 24 last year.

Narrating the incident, he said that it was after Christmas, when he received a call from a woman he did not know, who introduced herself as Mzobe’s girlfriend, and said that she had brought him a message that he was missing.

“He told me that his friends (Mzobe) called him, informing him that his shack in the Ugandan buildings in Siphingo, has been closed for days. He said the woman told him that his friends told him that they kept him on December 24, 2025, they had been staying with him in Uganda,” said Mrs Mhlongo.

He went on to say that he went there the next day, and they went with the woman to report a missing person to the Siphingo police who eventually transferred them to Mlaza, and that’s where they successfully reported.

He stated that the friends, whose names he said he was given, have never contacted him to reveal to the family that they know Mzobe.

“I am also worried about why they did not come to explain where he ended up as they were the last to see him,” he said.

He complained about the way the police handled the matter, saying that there were plans for the police to interrogate the couple as well as the friends, which ultimately did not happen.

He also complained about not showing compassion to the police officer who was assigned to investigate the matter.

“We ended up not seeing eye to eye anymore, she accused me of teaching her work when I had questions about the investigation. This hurt me because she did not show humanity, and she did not show mercy to me as a woman who is confused by the loss of her son in an inexplicable way,” said Mrs Mhlongo.

He said that even when the plan was changed that the five would no longer be questioned, he was never informed of that change.

He said that it was difficult to go to the government morgue in different places, to search if Mzobe’s body was not among those that were brought and said to be unidentified. He also said that the investigator was not there, he complained about being busy with other important cases, and he ended up going alone.

“The morgue staff even told me that it is not allowed for me to come alone, I must be accompanied by a detective. I was at the Phoenix morgue when the detective called the worker there, and he told him that he was busy,” he said.

He disclosed that the other thing he found out was that he was last at work on December 23, and the next day he woke up and went to garages that sell cars, with the intention of buying one, which he would use to come home.

“His cousin who, when he found out that he was missing, also cursed and almost dried up saying that he was with him and his fiancee when he went to look for the car he was going to buy,” he said.

He said that when his son’s shack was broken into, there was no suspicion that he was attacked inside, many of his belongings were there and in good order.

“Even his work uniform was there,” said Mrs Mhlongo. He said that the mobile phone was always switched off when they tried to call it, but what they noticed was that some family members were sent mysterious messages after Christmas. “We suspect that it was people who had taken his cell phone,” said Mrs. Mhlongo, who said that she passed all this information to the police but they did nothing about it.

He said he has no doubts that something bad happened to his son since he was not a person who just disappeared.

“His disappearance has a human hand. I wanted the police to take these five and question them, maybe there is a clue that will come out. I am sad for not getting help for my child’s disappearance. I was big in body, I have become smaller,” said Mrs Mhlongo.

He appealed to anyone who has information to report to the nearest police because he wants to find his son’s bone to surrender himself. He said that the son has a daughter (14) who at first hid from him that her father was missing, but they finally told him, seeing that time passed without finding a trace.
