It is expected that this year’s South African Music Awards (SAMA) event will be held on August 15 in the place where it was founded, Sun City.
This was revealed by the organizers of the event under the association, The Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA), as they announced the artists selected for the event which was held in Bryanston, Johannesburg, recently.
They said that this year there are 25 artists in this country who have been nominated under it, but there are five that they will not reveal at the moment.
They said they will announce these five in the coming weeks.
In those categories, there are those expected to be voted by the public including Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Duo/Group of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
Nhlanhla Sibisi, who is the manager of RiSA, said that all the music they have clearly shows that the country has different artists and music when it comes to the tribes we have in the country.
He said they are very proud of the artistry, eloquence and finesse used by musicians in their songs.
“The artists we have represent us in the different types of music we have in this country. We have different genres including motswako, jazz, gospel, lekompo, Afro-popstars, maskandi and others. This clearly shows who we really are in our country in Mzansi. It is exciting to see the selection of artists we have seen today as they have different skills and are putting this country on the world map,” said Sibisi.
He said they will continue to hold this event because it is a way of thanking the artists for their work.
