ALTHOUGH it has been five years since the former manager of Khozi FM, Dr Welcome Mjikijeli “Bhodloza” Nzimande, passed away, the distribution of his inheritance is still a struggle. Nzimande (73) died on January 15, 2021 after being attacked by Covid-19.
It’s on the weekend It found that what is delaying the distribution of the inheritance is the ongoing dispute between Nzimande’s widow, Mrs. Zandile Phakathi-Nzimande and her illegitimate children. Nzimande’s son, Mr. Thelumusa Nzimande, confirmed that there is a rift between him and his mother MaPhakathi, but said that it is sad that this matter has reached the media.
“My father raised all of us as adults, even if we don’t have a lot of money, but we are able to support ourselves, only we wish to get justice for my little mother.”
Thelumusa accused MaPhakathi of wanting to embrace all of Bhodloza’s assets with a letter that he said was illegal.
He said that the letter says that when Bhodloza passes away, everything that belongs to him will belong to MaPhakathi. “When we asked to see the letter, he came with a lawyer saying that they couldn’t find it at Nedbank, they said it was lost. He is begging us to choose him as our wife and mother to be the executor, and there is a lawyer who will explain to us and sign it. Out of respect we didn’t want to fight and we signed. A year later we found out that the lawyer died in an accident and he was also a director in my father’s company that still owed money.”
Thelumusa also revealed that what is wrong with them is that they are no longer allowed to stay at their father’s house in Patheni, Richmond. “My father’s houses are closed, others are rented out, he says that everything is his because of the book. The key stays with the people he gets along with. These people use the houses to sleep anyone who doesn’t have a place on the weekends.”
He also complained that MaPhakathi had fenced and locked the grave so that the children could not access it.
In response, Ma Phakathi said that he was saddened by the media’s reporting of this matter because it drags Bhodloza’s name down since he is no longer there. He admitted that there are children who fight him since he raised them, taught them until they got married.
MaPhakathi said that he is confused because the matter has come back to the Master of Court and the ‘children’ were signing documents authorizing him to manage the estate of the deceased. He admitted that there is a letter he signed with the deceased at Nedbank in Durban North but it is no longer available due to the death of his former employer. He said that only the unsigned draft is left.
Continuing, Ma Phakathi said that the children tried to remove him from overseeing the deceased’s estate, but it was not possible. He agreed that the grave was fenced to prevent cattle from destroying it. He said the children were not forbidden by anyone to visit them, but they were the ones who did not like the home even when Bhodloza was alive.
“Even when I did the traditional work, I introduced them, but they came because they said they were saved, they no longer keep the traditions.”
It’s on the weekend found out that MaPhakathi did not have any children from Nzimande. Nzimande himself in his first marriage with the late MaNdlovu, had five children namely Bhekumuzi, Phumelela, Jabulisile, Thelumusa and Sandile who has passed away.
The other daughters of the deceased who were found outside are Nompumelelo born MaThembane and Hlengiwe born KaManqele. The other daughters are Lethukuthula and Nandipha Nzimande.
