KwaDukuza MUNICIPALITY intends to design a visual role with the aim of supporting its young people to develop in the arts.

This was revealed by the Mayor of KwaDukuza, Mr. Siduduzo Gumede, when he spoke at a big event to showcase young people with different skills at the Multi-purpose Center Sports Grounds, Glenhills, on Tuesday.

This event was previously called the Youth Talent Show. Gumede said they want there to be a way to help young people who seem to have different skills.

According to him, it is important that the skills of young people come to the fore and not be blocked because they can use them for the purpose of earning a living even if they are not given opportunities.

He emphasized that they want to see young people participating in the arts. He stated that in this project they are collaborating with the Department of Arts in KwaZulu-Natal.

He said that since they were celebrating the end of 50 years, there was an incident in 1976 that made it important for them to also stand up and ensure that they help young people where there is a need.

“It is important that we work with different agencies so that our young people have the opportunity to learn in the right way,” he said.

He expressed concern about the lack of job opportunities he said young people are facing, but he said they have a plan to deal with this.

He complained a lot about the type of education in Ninguizimu Africa and said that it cannot properly support the skills development of young people.

“This has made it very difficult to help young people because their skills are not sharpened as needed,” he said.

He stated that after this event, they will see where young people need help so that their skills can be developed in the right way and they will finally be able to use them for the purpose of earning a living.

In this event, young people shared the stage by reciting poetry, singing and imitating others dancing.

Young people thanked the municipality for this program and said that there is a glimmer of hope that something good will happen if there are programs of this kind.

One of them, Ms. Nokulunga Shandu, said they were very happy with the opportunity given to them by the municipality to show their skills.

”We are very happy that we got this important opportunity in this way,” he said.

Ms. Nondumiso Nxumalo also said that they were impressed that the KwaDukuza Municipality had an ambitious plan like this.
