IT WAS joy and happiness that the Lutheran church, The United National Church (UNC Lutheran), celebrated its 100th anniversary.
The church’s celebration was at Vukile High School, KwaMaphumulo, where they were attended by the Speaker of Parliament who is also a child of the church, Mrs Thoko Didiza.
This celebration of the church that was founded in 1926, was attended by church elders, teachers from other churches, bishops and the whole church.
At this event, Ayanda Ntanzi performed her songs and Luthela songs.
Mrs. Didiza said she was very happy to be part of this celebration as her grandfather was a teacher in it.
“Today we thank Almighty God for giving us the opportunity to celebrate 100 years since the church was founded. This is a great history full of evidence of God’s faithfulness, His love and His infinite grace.
“For the past hundred years, the church has been a place of worship, of growing faith, of teaching the Word of God and bringing hope to the community.
“We are grateful to the leaders, pastors, members, and founders who laid a strong foundation and worked with dedication so that the church could continue to grow,” said Mrs. Didiza.
The President of the church, Pastor Bhekithemba Mhlongo said: “As the United National Church – Lutheran, we are committed to continuing to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to serve God sincerely and to serve the community with love and unity.
“We thank everyone who has been a part of this hundred-year journey. May God continue to bless our church, give it strength, wisdom, and peace to continue fulfilling its mission for generations to come.
“Thank God for everything he has done for us. We congratulate our church on 100 years of success in faith. We thank all who joined us in celebrating, donations and support,”
The church and the president issued certificates of appreciation to those who led the church, those who are still receiving pensions and others for their dedication to serving the king.
