The Eastern Cape Department of Transport has confirmed that the death toll in the early morning car accident on the N2 near Mooiplaas, just outside KuGompo Town, has risen to six.
According to the department, the female victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died shortly after arriving at the medical center. The department expressed its condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of all the six who died.
Part of the road remains closed as emergency and accident investigation teams continue their work. Motorists are urged to approach the area with caution and follow instructions from traffic officials while emergency operations continue.
