A series of difficult and consecutive Betway Premiership matches against Kaizer Chiefs looks like it will be difficult for the Naturena team that is looking to finish in the Top 8 if you look at their recent form as they have lost four games in a row.

Chiefs lost to Richards Bay FC 1-0 in the Betway Premiership match at Mhlathuze Sports Complex, Richards Bay on Tuesday. This happened while still licking their lips following the defeat they received from Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch and Zamalek in the Caf Confederation Cup.

The Kings who were competing for the league title were first beaten by Zamalek SC from Egypt in the Caf Confederation Cup followed by Stellenbosch FC in the league.

It has been two seasons since Chiefs finished outside the Top 8, but the way they started 2025/2026 has brought back hope to their fans that this will not happen again.

The Chiefs’ recent results point to a drop in form at a bad time when teams that have placed badly on the log are starting to step up.

Since the Chiefs’ form is running out of fear, its fans should not even think about the remaining league games before the end of the season.

The good start in the league for Chiefs was linked to the understanding of many of their first home games which was interpreted as the second round will be tough since it is away.

Since Chiefs are in sixth place with 30 points from 18 games in the Premiership log, they are not sitting comfortably in the Top 8.

TS Galaxy, which is holding the brake in the Top 8, is behind the Chiefs by six points despite being in the lead with two games.

What makes the Chiefs stay in the Top 8 difficult is that in the remaining months of the season, away games against Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, Sekhukhune United and MaZulu FC are waiting for them which are teams in the race for the league title.

All these teams are in form especially when they play at home. This means that the Chiefs have no sign of continuing to slide because this time they may target MTN8 at the beginning of the next season.

Speaking after their match against Richards Bay on Tuesday, one of the coaches of Kaizer Chiefs, Cedric Kaze, said that this is not the time to rush but the team needs to unite more than before to find solutions.
