TECHNOLOGIES are a big part of people’s daily lives in today’s world. But health experts have warned that using a mobile phone while chatting with someone can have a negative impact on lovers.

Experts say that doing that, known as phubbing, breaks the connection between you and the person you are talking to, so much so that the person you are sitting with feels despised or unimportant.

Although this may seem harmless, doing it often can interfere with your conversation with the person and cause death in your relationship at home, at work or wherever you are chatting.

Since using a cell phone has become an everyday thing to communicate and use social media, it is easy to get into the habit of constantly looking at it. However, the big problem starts when it happens often when you are sitting face to face with someone and talking, because it makes them feel unimportant.

Why is phubbing so popular these days?

This is because smartphones and social networks make communication very easy, but it also means that people will always wander far and wide with their thoughts due to endless messages coming in all day on the phone, making it difficult to focus on one thing.

Health experts say that it is difficult to put the cell phone down because of its effect on the human mind. Every time a message comes into the phone, there is something that says to look around quickly, which makes people always look around their mobile phones.

This becomes a problem as many people use their cell phones at work, and text each other throughout the day. Sometimes they do all that at once and it’s hard to put it down when you have to communicate or talk to the person in front of you.

What is the effect of this on love?

It can make the quality of your relationship go down. It can also cause the person you are in love with to think that you do not respect him, until he believes that what you pay attention to on your phone is more important to him than him.

Even in families, there is a problem that parents who are always busy on the phone were still able to have a good and undisturbed time with their children, which can make the child feel as if they are not paying attention. It’s the same feeling for friends.

The effect of this on the mind

It is not limited to romantic relationships only, as it affects the mind and feeling that being ignored can make you feel neglected, feel lonely and lower your self-confidence. Staying busy with your cell phone can make you not have enough time to relax your mind and body.

Here are the methods you can use to avoid this problem:

  • Try to do other things, don’t use the cell phone.
  • Put the cell phone aside when you are together as a family to strengthen your relationship to chat freely.
  • Turn off unnecessary and non-urgent incoming message sounds.
  • Don’t be the person who stops everything because you want to answer your messages.
  • Encourage your peers to do the same.
