The Minister of Community Development in KwaZulu-Natal, Ms. Mbali Shinga, called the MKP ‘a scumbag they see shaking’ when she complained that there is no stability in her party, the NFP.

Ms Shinga said that it is not appropriate for MKP members to talk about the problems plaguing the NFP because MKP also has its problems.

He said this while presenting the Department’s budget, in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislative Assembly, yesterday.

Ms. Shinga was responding to MKP members who complained that Ms. Shinga did not have time to do her job, saying that she had forgotten to fight internal battles in the NFP.

Ms Shinga is at odds with the MKP because of her decision to oppose the party’s efforts to overthrow the coalition government in charge of the province.

MKP member, Mr. Mphikeleli Mthethwa, said that they want Ms. Shinga to be fired.

“The Minister goes in and out of the courts, fighting for his position. He doesn’t have time to do work. He has no time to fight for poor people. The department was given to a person from a group that has no stability.”

Ms. Shinga said that it is not true that she does not have time to do her work, she said that she continues to do work normally.

“It is possible for a scumbag to see you shaking. I don’t know if I ask which party is unstable here in the Legislative Assembly and what answer I can get. It is known which party has changed its members here in the Legislative Assembly. Even now in the committee they have made changes. That’s why people who don’t know anything about the Ministry are talking.”

Ms Shinga has filed a lawsuit challenging her dismissal from the NFP.

The NFP leadership also filed a case in court where they sued the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Ms. Nontembeko Boyce.

The leadership of the NFP wants the court to compel Ms. Boyce to accept the letter to expel Ms. Shinga from being a member of the Legislative Assembly.

Ms Shinga said it is her right to go to court if she is not satisfied with the decision to expel her.

Ms Shinga said that even the MKP leader, Mr. Jacob Zuma, whom she did not name, goes in and out of the courts.

“SI know him who has been in the courts for 30 years, he keeps challenging the decisions of the courts.”

The Department’s budget is R3.6 billion.

Mrs. Shinga said that the Ministry will continue programs to care for the poor, support criminals, establish non-profit organizations, campaigns against the use of drugs and awareness of communicable diseases.
