The councilor of Pietermaritzburg reprimands the spread of false allegations, following the spread of news that immigrants kidnapped students of KwaMpumuza school on Tuesday.

According to Solezwe, the incident of theft of a taxi with students took place at the time of school entry in the morning.

Speaking to Solezwe, a councilor near the scene of the incident, Mr. Sbu Mtshali, said that although a taxi was taken with the students inside, the suspects were not immigrants.

“The taxi was taken while the driver was still out, he went into a house, leaving four students inside,” said Mtshali.

He said when the driver entered the house, the suspects who were traveling in another car appeared, got into the taxi, beat up the four students who were inside.

“The thing that helped was that it was quickly discovered that the driver was not on his cell phone, so he was able to quickly raise the alarm and report that someone had already hit them and destroyed the taxi with students in it,” he said.

He said the taxi was finally stopped by the police on the road towards Bulwer, after leaving the Pietermaritzburg area.

“It is nonsense that the accused are immigrants, in fact they are local people. We have been talking about the fact that it will cause problems due to the spread of lies that foreigners take taxis,” said Mtshali.

The Nation found out from a member of the community, Mr. Musa Ngema, that the students who were abducted by car are from Tetelegu Primary School.

He said the incident happened and the taxi returned to pick up the students from Sweetwaters as usual, and took them to this school in KwaMpumuza.

He said the community expressed concern following the incident.

“Parents and the community are very scared. We want the police to strengthen the roadblocks in the area to avoid incidents like this,” said Ngema.

As this happens, the country is buzzing as the protests of the locals have spread, expressing their anger through protests over the issue of illegal immigrants.

The protests that took place in different places across the country were led by the March and March organization which was founded by Mrs. Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, the coordinator of the forces, Mr. Nkosikhona “Phakelumthakathi” Ndabandaba and the president of the bands, Mr. Ngizwe Mchunu.
