It is estimated that R1.2 million to R1.8 million in profit is expected to be made at the music festival, which highlights budding entrepreneurs who sell kota at the eThekwini Kota Festival – which is coming back for the third time this year.

This event, which was first held in 2024 – this time again at People’s Park, Durban on Saturday June 6 from 10 am to 10 pm. Tickets are available at R150 for students, R200 for adults and R800 for VIP at Computickets.

The organizer of the event, Yolanda Kubheka, said that apart from providing job opportunities, this time they will continue to promote street entrepreneurs as there are more than 60 who will be present this time selling a variety of quarters.

“We also ensure that all of this will benefit only black businessmen who own food businesses, most of them will be young people. We intend for them to use us to find customers and build relationships that may benefit them when they continue with their businesses after the event,” said Yolanda.

He revealed that those who love fun and music will smoke and believe it too as there will be performances by artists including oSjava, Nasty C, Elaine, Kabza De Small, Funky Qla, MaWhoo, Aymos, Young Stunna, Blxckie, Mthandeni SK, Big Zulu, Naledi Aphiwe, Feza, Supta, Kyotic, Earth Queens, DJ Spokza, Prince Shadow and Somizi Mhlongo and Napo Modise will host the event.

“Since it went well last year, there were more than 4,000 people, we are looking to increase by 44% this year the number of people attending this event.

He said that they will create 250 temporary job opportunities, which will benefit 120 young people who will assist in various activities including overseeing the progress of the event, the welfare of the guests, security, food, marketing the event and more to help make it a success.

“We have also created a program that will help 50 students from different colleges and universities to get work experience in event planning, marketing and other related activities,” said Yolanda.
