ORLANDO Pirates showed signs of championship in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) when they came back after being behind for a long time, and won against MaZulu FC, a result that kept them at the top of the log of this league last weekend at UJ Stadium, Johannesburg.
After Thandanani Mhlongo scored for AmaZulu in the 81st minute, Thuto Sesipi and Joy Manana scored for Pirates to equalize and win the game.
As a result of this result, the team coached by Roscoe Krieling is sitting comfortably at the top since it is six points better than Mamelodi Sundowns who are second. Pirates have 66 points in 27 games.
Although it looks like the Pirates are giving up the title due to the unexpected results, but it seems that Kreiling, who was picked up from SuperSport United, may finally be successful in doing the job that has defeated many famous coaches.
Sundowns needed the bravery of Kutlwano Letlhaku to win 3-2 against Chippa United in a difficult match last weekend at TUKS Stadium, Pretoria.
Sundowns found themselves in the middle of the game, going into the break leading 2-0 with goals from Bennet Mokoena and Ntokozo Siquba.
By slowly taking Chippa from Sundowns, the Chilli Boys came back and scored two goals to force the hero Letlhaku to appear in the 85th minute.
The defending champions – Chiefs – won 5-1 against Polokwane City on Sunday morning.
In this game, when it went to the break, Naledi Hlongwane scored twice and Steve “Stevie G” Mendes scored twice.
In the second half, other Chiefs stars, Neo Bohloko and Pho Khethang, scored other goals.
Although the Chiefs look like they won’t do anything in the title race this season, their coaches must be happy with the form they have shown against Polokwane.
Other DDC results this weekend went as follows:
TS Galaxy 0-3 Durban City
Stellenbosch FC 1-2 Sekhukhune United
Siwelele FC 1-1 Magesi FC
