Being abandoned by his parents when he was young made him an actorZaloSiyanda “Big Max” Thusi, grew up with more questions than answers.

Asking yourself questions is what led Big Max from the village of KwaGqugmu, Swayimani, Pietermaritzburg, to record a song titled Questions. He said that with this song he is showing people the pain he has lived with for 24 years.

Explaining Big Max, he said that he takes it from the pain of growing up with living parents but feels like he doesn’t have them.

“The song talks about many unanswered questions that plague many children today. Questions it’s not just a song but a message to children who have grown up seeing themselves as snakes – that they are not alone and their pain is recognized.”

Big Max said he grew up hard while studying at Gququmla Primary and Mthuli Secondary in Bhamshela, being raised by his grandparents.

“It was difficult to live with my grandparents while my parents were still alive.”

He said he studied until he finished Grade 12, then he raised himself by becoming a fashion designer known as Big Max Brand.

He didn’t stop there, he also entered the field of acting and music. He said his music has been played on many radio stations including Ukhozi FM, Vibe FM, and Mungundlovu FM.

“My music focuses on emotional issues. I talk about pain, hope and everyday life. I want to tell children who have grown up like baby snakes that they are not alone. Their pain is seen. My years of silence are over. Don’t hide. Let’s stop pretending it doesn’t hurt. Talking is the beginning of healing.”

Big Max said his music is available on social media outlets.
