A Durban lady who plays for the female Proteas, Nonkululeko Mlaba and Zakithi Nene from Mnambithi who is a South African athlete in the 400m distance, were the ones who took home the big prizes at the KZN Sports Awards held at the weekend, at the Nkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre, Durban.
Mlaba (27) took home the KZN Sportswoman of the Year and Nene (28) in the same category but for men (KZN Sportsman of the Year).
Both of these stars who faithfully represented the province of KZN in the national teams of South Africa in different sports, returned home with new VW Polo cars for each player.
Among the other nominees for KZN Sports Personality of the Year is Lamontville Golden Arrows star Siyanda “Skhwishi” Ndlovu.
Ndlovu is going home with this, he was tricked by the people who were there Mlaba and Nene.
There are many other awards that came out of this event which was attended by the officials of the provincial government in their respective ways.
