MEMBERS of the MKP in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislative Assembly have been making fun of each other over the sacking of the former prime minister of Zulu, Rev. Thulasizwe Buthelezi.
MKP members are happy with the appointment of the new Prime Minister of Zulu, King Phathisizwe Chiliza. King is the MKP leader in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislative Assembly.
Buthelezi is a member of the IFP and is also the Minister of Cooperative Governance.
The IFP and MKP are at odds in the Legislature as the MKP believes that the IFP was taking a bite out of its mouth when it was left out to form the provincial government with other small parties.
Four members of the MKP who spoke in the Legislative Assembly showed that they were happy about the dismissal of Buthelezi.
Buthelezi was present in the Legislative Assembly when the MKP made fun of his dismissal.
The king was not there as he is part of Zwelithini’s Zwelithini’s tour of Silo Misuzulu Sinqobile from Zimbabwe.
MKP member, Ms. Silindile Seme, said they welcome the appointment of a new prime minister. He then mocked Buthelezi, saying that they sympathized with him.
“You have already bought so many cars!”
Buthelezi’s dismissal was announced by the King’s spokesman, the acting King Mpikayise Buthelezi.
“Isilo has sent me to announce to the whole of Zulu that the teacher who has been the prime minister of Zulu, please rest him from this very difficult task of being the Prime Minister of Zulu, and we will choose King Chiliza to be the one who becomes the Prime Minister of Zulu, and he will continue the work of the government as he is in charge.”
In a statement, Mbube’s office said that Silo is grateful to Buthelezi for the work he did when he was prime minister.
Mbube appealed to the Royal Family, kings, chiefs and Zulu as a whole to cooperate with the new Prime Minister of Zulu.
“King Chiliza is the one who will advise the King, look after the performance of the Zulu Prime Minister’s Office.”
The King used to be the Deputy Prime Minister of Zulu.
It is not clear whether a new deputy prime minister of Zulu will be appointed or whether this position is about to end. This is not the first time Buthelezi has been demoted from this position.
Buthelezi was first elected to this position during the Sandlwana Festival, in 2024.
He was fired at the end of 2024, but was reinstated at the end of last year as he was re-directed.
Buthelezi’s sacking follows other changes recently announced at Silo’s office.
Mbube recently pointed the way to the person who was his mouthpiece, Prince Thulani of Mrs. Zulu.
Last week, Prince Khishwewani, who had not completed two months of being elected to the office of Mbube, resigned.
