The KwaZulu-Natal Police Commander, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, has fallen ill as he returns to Parliament to answer allegations made by other witnesses who came after him.

In his speech, Mkhwanazi listed a few important things to clarify for many who find the speech incomplete:

  • Mkhwanazi played a role in the arrest of Matipandile Sotheni, who is accused of killing witness D. He revealed that Sotheni was working under him in the Task Force and was contacted by the owner of a security company who lent Sotheni the type of gun that was used to kill Witness D.
  • He also explained that he installed recording equipment at the Oyster Box hotel where he met with Vusimuzi Cat Matlala and Klebe KwaZulu-Natal leader Major General Lesetja Senona. “I understood very well when they gave me this information that they were selling their team, including Sibiya and Motsumi,” he added, adding that this is why Senona was afraid to read their names when he appeared before the Madlanga Commission.
  • He shows a letter that he says was written by a prisoner who had an affair with Cat Matlala. Matlala used to tell the man all these stories and the man wrote them down without Matlala knowing. This person suspects that Matlala has freedom within C Max and is very close to the head of the institution which is why he can move around and do things easily and has a mobile phone.
  • He also emphasized that he did not say that Senzo Mchunu is part of a gang. “We say that he has the power to make crime continue. “There is an opportunity to hand over the country to the people to be controlled by them, if there was a situation to remove the national commissioner for any reason, General Sibiya would be acting,” General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi in the Ad Hoc committee.
  • He dismissed Cedric Nkabinde’s statement saying that they had a jittery weekend when they visited Senzo Mchunu’s house. “When he came to my place, I told him that he was late, I decided to take the wife’s car and use it, which means that there are car inspection services that the committee can get if necessary. And what idiot would use the wife’s car to have sex on the jets?” she said.
  • There was a moment of panic among the members of Parliament as Mkhwanazi also struck.
