THEY WANT to revive the heritage month to be able to focus especially on the youth, the organizers of the first Zwide Music Festival.

This event which will be held on September 24, at Curries Fountain, Durban, was launched in Mhlanga, Durban, on Friday.

Among the promoters, masked singer Mjolisi is leading in collaboration with young men from the same family, including Smangaliso Ndwandwe and Asanda Ndwandwe.

Mjolisi revealed that the event they chose to organize was supported by the company MJSmanga Holdings.

Although he sings maskandi, this event will not focus only on this type of music because they want to attract the attention of different people.

“We are coming up with a very unique event, which will bring together different musicians from different fields, and will highlight the different traditions that we have here in our country. The biggest thing we want to do is that there is unity in which the youth do not lose their origins. We urge that since it is the month of heritage people come out in large numbers, we also choose a day to coincide with the day of heritage to be celebrated in a different way this year full of music,” he said.

He said the person they named the event after is a person they respect in the community who has helped many people where he lives.

“The person we named the event after, will be there on the day we chose to honor him. He gave us a message that he wants to renew respect, culture, and unity through this event. On this day, no one will be different when it comes to buying tickets, everyone will be safe sitting down and everyone who will be there we have arranged for him to eat,” he explained.

What they wish for, he said, is that next year the event will come back again and in other years too.

Among the artists he said will be there are Mzukulu, Feza, Maskandi, Babes Wodumo, DJ Tira, Inkosi Yamacokama, Naledi Aphiwe, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Menzi, Khuzani, Dladla Mshunqisi and others.
