The vacancy created by the death of the leader of the ANC in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislative Assembly, Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba, has been FILLED.

Mahlaba passed away two weeks ago after being hit by a car while exercising in Newcastle.

The vacancy of Mahlaba who was the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly was filled by Mrs. Zinhle Cele of the ANC.

This was announced by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Ms. Nontembeko Boyce who said they welcome Mrs. Cele.

Mrs. Cele was sworn in at the Legislative Assembly in Pietermaritzburg on Friday.

“Today we were swearing in a new member of the Legislative Assembly, Mrs. Cele who replaces Dr. Ntuthuko Mahlaba. Mrs. Cele was a member of the Legislative Assembly in the previous government, and now she is returning. Now it means that the members of this house are back to 80,” said Ms. Boyce.
